  Allison turned around, briskly walked towards David, grabbed his hand, and dragged him up the stairs.

  “But, what about the movie?” David innocently asked as he was being dragged up the stairs. Allison looked back and playfully glared at him. David knew exactly what he was doing. He was such a tease. He knew how to get her hot and bothered.

  Time stopped as Allison felt a wave of emotions sweep over her body. She was breathless with the overwhelming feeling of joy in her heart. Tears overflowed as she stared into the eyes of the man she loved. The room was silent with anticipation as the family waited for her reply.

  Allison dropped to her knees with a huge smile on her face. She grasped David’s free hand and in a quiet voice answered him “yes”. David embraced her as the room erupted with excitement. Not missing a beat, David grabbed the ring, seductively licked off the frosting, and placed it on her finger. She could see two others candy canes poking out of his pocket and his fingers were tainted from the sticky red mintiness of the candy. She glanced at David who was already staring at her with a goofy grin. David sarcastically replied, “Yeah she does,” and winked at her. She playfully pushed David while rolling her eyes and picked up the candy cane thanking her cousin. Happy she accepted his gift, he ran towards the bowl of candy and stuffed his pockets with more treats.

  That evening ended with everyone opening presents and sitting in front of the Christmas tree, excitingly discussing plans for David and Allison’s wedding. As the snow was falling outside, Allison and David sat down by the fireplace to stay warm, holding each other close and gazing into each other’s eyes, cheerful for their future together. Killer slowly made his way to the couple rubbing his fur against David and sleepily used him as his bed. Years to come, they would fondly look back on that wintry night where the true start of their lives together began, and David discovered Allison’s love for candy canes.
